Incident Involving Parrot At Long Island Pet Shop Proves To Be Non-Criminal, Police Say The curious case of a missing parrot from a Long Island pet store turned out to be a misunderstanding Police in Suffolk County issued an alert on Thursday, Nov. 14, as Suffolk County Police Third Precinct Crime Section officers attempted to identify and locate a man who allegedly stole a Quaker parrot from B.T.J's Jungle on Sunrise Highway in West Islip on Monday, Nov. 11. Initially, it was believed the parrot had been stolen, but further investigation by Suffolk County Police found that the entire incident was non-criminal in nature.

Passing Motorist Finds Long Island Bicyclist Critically Injured A bicyclist is in critical condition after being found injured by a passerby on Long Island. The passing motorist called 911 at about 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, Suffolk County Police said. The motorist located the man in East Northport lying injured next to a bicycle, on the side of Deposit Road, near McFadden Drive, according to police. The man, Vincent Farrugia, 61, of Commack, was unconscious with a head injury. Farrugia was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.
