LI Man Man Driving With 40 Suspensions Nabbed After Fleeing, Police Say A Long Island man with 40 suspensions on his driver's license was arrested after fleeing during a traffic stop, police reported. Jemel Edwards, age 35, of Deer Park, was arrested in Bayport shortly after midnight on Thursday, March 3, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.  Edwards was driving a 2000 Nissan Altima east on Route 27 Service Road in Sayville when an officer pulled him over at the intersection of Broadway Avenue for speeding, SCPD said.  When the officer got out of the patrol car, Edwards drove away, traveling south on Nicolls Road, police reported. In October, a suspect or suspects damaged 12 bus stop shelters along the eastbound and westbound lanes of the Nesconset Highway, between Gibbs Pond Road and Route 111, according to a report from Suffolk County Crime Stoppers on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Six other bus stop shelters were also damaged on Portion Road, between Nicolls Road and Ronkonkoma Avenue, Crime Stoppers said. Authorities said the damage was reported to police on Friday, Oct. 29. Long Island's State Highways Getting $19 Million In Safety Enhancements Ten parkways and state routes on Long Island are getting more than $19 million in safety improvements, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Wednesday, June 19. The road projects, in Nassau and Suffolk counties, include repairing pavement, installing guide rails and replacing signs.
