Officers on Marine Juliette responded to Captree State Park in Bay Shore on Monday, Aug. 16 after receiving a report of kayakers in the water at about 3:10 p.m., according to the Suffolk County Police Department. Jing Li, of Flushing, Queens, was paddleboarding with his two young children on Hempstead Lake in Hempstead at approximately 5:45 p.m., Sunday, May 23, when the paddleboard capsized, and Li went underwater, said the New York State Police. Stolen Car Found In Pond Off Southern State Parkway, Police Say A car found in North Pond at Hempstead Lake State Park was stolen in Queens, state park police said. The 2019 Chevrolet Suburban was reported submerged in the pond around 5:41 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13 by the Nassau County 911 Center, said the New York State Park Police. Its goal is to help ensure that visitors of state parks are buckling up and staying safe. The campaign is also intended to teach the importance of properly securing younger visitors in approved child safety seats.
