Karen Dudek Of Commack, Ex-Director Of Nursing At Long Island Hospital, Dies A Commack resident whose career includes director of nursing at a Long Island hospital has died. Karen S. Dudek died Tuesday, Aug. 6, at her home in Commack, at age 63. After 36 years as a nurse and later as director of nursing at the Nassau County Medical Center, she retired and worked for several hospital associations in New York City as director of nursing. Dudek was predeceased by her parents, Regina B. Smith and Robert A. Smith, and her sister, Regina S. It was reported to Nassau County Police on Wednesday, July 17 that Anthony Schlechter, 70, who suffers from a cognitive disorder, was missing, according to police. He was last seen Monday, July 15 after being discharged from the medical center in East Meadow, according to police.
