Robbery: Trio Beats Woman With Bats, Make Off With Money In Mineola
A woman was injured after three men beat her with baseball bats, stole her money, and ran in an early-morning Long Island robbery, police said.
It happened on Tuesday, Aug. 1 in Mineola, according to Nassau County Police.
A 45-year-old woman was walking on Mineola Boulevard, near Jericho Turnpike, at approximately 2:15 a.m.
That’s when a trio of men carrying baseball bats jumped out of a white hatchback, police said.
All three of the men began beating the woman with the bats, chipping her two front teeth and causing multiple bruises and abrasions.

A 20-year-old Long Island resident has been charged with the alleged 2022 shooting death of an area man.
Gerson I. Hernandez, age 20, of Hempstead, was arrested on Monday, March 13 for the shooting death of another man on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, in Uniondale.
According to Nassau County detectives, officers responded to Uniondale Avenue Park located at 710 Uniondale Ave. for a victim of an apparent gunshot wound.

Former Nassau County Law Firm Employee Indicted For Stealing $500K from Trusts, DA Says
A former Long Island law firm employee has been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $500,000 from seven trust bank accounts that benefitted people with special needs.
Michelle Byrd, age 53, of Hempstead, was arraigned Wednesday, March 8 on one count of grand larceny and 180 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, said Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly.
“The victims of this alleged scheme included adults with Cerebral Palsy, stroke victims, and a woman who had lost her arms and legs due to medical malpractice," Donnelly said.

Police on Long Island are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a man wanted in connection with an alleged burglary and another attempted burglary.

Massapequa Woman, Amityville Resident Charged With Animal Abandonment
Two women are facing charges after allegedly abandoning several cats at a Long Island park.
The Suffolk County SPCA said Crystal Cahill, age 39, of Amityville, and Catherine Gropper, age 32, of Massapequa, in Nassau County, trapped cats in East Islip under the pretense of neutering and returning the cats, but instead left three adult cats in Tanner Park in Copiague.
The pair was charged with three counts each of animal abandonment and once count of conspiracy to commit a crime, both misdemeanors.

Two people have been arrested after allegedly threatening two women on a Nice bus on Long Island following a verbal altercation.
The incident took place in Valley Stream on Wednesday, June 22.

Long Island saw a slight downturn in the positivity rate for COVID-19 testing, according to newly released data on Sunday, Sept. 13.
