Meadowbrook State Parkway Ramp Shut Down For Maintenance In Hempstead
Transportation officials have announced a new roadway closure for maintenance on the Meadowbrook State Parkway.
On Thursday, July 27, the Exit M6W ramp from northbound Meadowbrook State Parkway to the westbound Southern State Parkway in Hempstead will be closed, the New York State Department of Transportation announced.
The closure, which will start at 10 p.m. and end at 5 a.m. Friday, July 28, is scheduled "to facilitate highway maintenance," the DOT said.

Duo Charged With Attempted Murder For Incident Off Meadowbrook State Parkway
Police are investigating an assault with an axe that occurred in a wooded area off the Meadowbrook State Parkway.
It happened in the area of Sunrise Highway, at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28 in Freeport, according to state police.
Two people, Oscar Romero-Hernandez, age 37, and Jose Otero, age 38, both of Freeport, were in a physical altercation where the victim was struck in the head with an axe, state police said.
The victim was transported to Nassau University Medical Center with serious injuries and is in critical condition.

IDs Released For Two Killed In Separate Meadowbrook Parkway Crashes
The identities have been released for the two people killed in separate crashes that happened just over an hour apart on the Meadowbrook State Parkway.
The first crash happened around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 north of M6 in the town of Hempstead.
Danyel Saint-Louis, age 17, of Freeport, was traveling northbound when he lost control of his vehicle, struck the center median, and came to rest on the right shoulder, state police said.
Two vehicles stopped to help Saint-Louis, with multiple occupants exiting those vehicles, according to police.

Driver Arrested Following County-To-County Police Chase On Meadowbrook State Parkway
A Hempstead man was arrested following a police pursuit that began in Nassau County and ended in Suffolk County all the while ramming a vehicle on the Meadowbrook State Parkway.
The incident began around 9:38 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16, when New York State Police responded to a call of an ongoing incident on the parkway, said Trooper Daniel Ahlgrim, spokesman for the department.
Once on the scene, troopers saw a Toyota Tundra purposefully ramming an Audi on the parkway, southbound in the town of Hempstead, Ahlgrim said.
