ID Released For Man Struck, Killed By Car On Nassau County Roadway The identity has been released of a man who was killed after being struck by a car on a Long Island roadway. The incident happened around 10 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13, in East Meadow. A 34-year-old man was driving a 2000 Honda westbound on Hempstead Turnpike in the vicinity of Merrick Avenue and struck the man walking on the roadway,  Nassau County Police said. The man, now identified as Rolando Lopez, age 35, of East Meadow, suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead, police said. The driver remained at the scene.  The investigation is ongoing.
