Thief Who Stole $1.5M Worth Of Luxury Cars In NJ, Rockland, Long Island, CT Gets 3½ Years
𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: The last of four men who admitted stealing more than $1.5 million worth of luxury cars in New Jersey, Rockland County, Long Island and Connecticut was sentenced to nearly 3½ years in federal prison.
Malik Baker, 30, of Vauxhall, and his three co-conspirators stashed at least 10 of the vehicles at a central location in Irvington, NJ, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Philip Sellinger said.

Ring Member Admits Snatching $1.5M Worth Of High-End Vehicles On Long Island, Elsewhere
The last of four men caught stealing more than $1.5 million worth of luxury cars in Connecticut, Rockland County, Long Island and New Jersey took a guilty plea on Thursday, Oct. 19 federal authorities announced.
Like his pals, Malik Baker, age 29, of Vauxhall, New Jersey, took a deal from the government, pleading guilty in federal court in Newark on Thursday to conspiring to transport stolen vehicles in interstate commerce and receiving a stolen vehicle that had crossed state lines after being stolen.
US District Judge Esther Salas scheduled Baker's sentencing for Thursday, March 7, 2024.

The 66-year-old man and woman were rescued after being stranded 100 feet up for seven hours with serious injuries from that plane that crashed into the power tower in Montgomery County, Maryland on Sunday, Nov. 27 after departing from Westchester late in the afternoon.

A socialite rom the region who pleaded guilty to voyeurism charges after she filmed three people, including a minor, without their consent, has been released from prison.
Fairfield County resident Hadley Palmer, age 53, of Greenwich, was released on Wednesday, May 4, after serving 90 days as part of a plea agreement, according to the Daily Mail.
Palmer, who had been serving her time in the York Correctional Institution, the state prison for women in Niantic, since Feb. 4, still faces between 90 days and five years in jail when sentenced in August after admitting the offenses in January…

1-4 Magnitude Earthquake Startles Some Residents In Region
If you felt a jolt, you weren't imagining things.
The mild, shaking jolt in Connecticut that startled some in Fairfield County, was in fact a mild earthquake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS, the organization responsible for earthquake tracking around the country, said the 1.4-magnitude quake took place at 12:38 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27 in Greenwich, two kilometers north-northwest of the neighborhood of Cos Cob.
They reported the quake was felt in Cos Cob, Greenwich, Old Greenwich, and Riverside.

Founder Of Caldor, With First Store In NY, Dies
Fairfield County entrepreneur, philanthropist, and founder of the Caldor department store chain, Carl Bennett, has died at the age of 101.
Bennett died at his home in Greenwich on Thursday, Dec. 23.
The Caldor empire came to be while working with his late wife, Dorothy Bennett, who together turned an $8,000 military salary savings into a chain of discount department stores that spanned from the 1950s to the mid-1980s when he sold his 120 store business to Associated Dry Goods.

A high-end escort whose body was found stuffed in a barrel and dumped on a quiet residential street in the region was born and raised in Fairfield County.
Nicole Flanagan, age 42, of Greenwich, was found on Friday, Aug. 13, stuffed in the barrel in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey after residents noticed a horrible smell coming from it, according to a report in The New York Post.
