A Long Island man, along with his company, has been charged with multiple counts in relation to a kickback scheme, authorities announced.
On Tuesday, Sept. 12, the Nassau County District Attorney announced that 58-year-old Glen Head resident Angelo Stanco, along with his Glen Cove company American Paving & Masonry Corp., were arraigned on charges including grand larceny for their alleged wage theft scheme.

Lirr Announces Oyster Bay Schedule Changes Prompted By Residents, Commuters
Feedback from the Long Island community has generated the MTA to change services offered by the Long Island Railroad (LIRR).
The changes, which will affect the Oyster Bay Branch, were announced this week.

Over the course of seven years, the woman siphoned club funds into her personal accounts and falsified business records, authorities report.
Anna Maria Restrepo, a 59-year-old Glen Head resident, was sentenced on Thursday, April 27 to three to six years in prison on grand larceny charges, the Nassau County District Attorney announced.
Restrepo (who is also known as Anna Maria Saboski), had been stealing hundreds of thousands from the Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club for nearly her whole employment with the club.

Trio Steals Multiple Tires, Rims From Nassau County Dealerships, Police Say
Three men accused of stealing multiple car tires and rims from Long Island dealerships have been arrested.
Chase Barret, age 33, of Astoria; Eldorado Sterling, age 29, of Queens; and Jovanie Clarke, age 29, of Queens, were arrested on Sunday, April 2 following a traffic stop in Woodbury, according to Nassau County Police.
Officers spotted them at around 2 a.m. in a white Ford Econoline van traveling on Jericho Turnpike. The vehicle had been involved in multiple previous larcenies, police said.

Five people were nabbed for allegedly selling THC and pot at several businesses on Long Island.
The busts took place throughout Nassau County on Tuesday, May 24 as part of multiple investigations.

Covid-19: Long Island Sees Slight Uptick In Cases, Here's Breakdown By Towns
Long Island has seen a slight uptick in positive COVID-19 cases though statewide numbers continue trending in the right direction.
There have now been 44,924 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nassau, and 45,006 in Suffolk as each county saw less than 100 new cases in the latest numbers provided by the state Department of Health.
There have been 2,198 COVID-19 fatalities in Nassau and 2,005 in Suffolk.
On Long Island, the positive infection rate over the past three days:
Monday, Aug. 31: 1.0 percent;
Tuesday, Sept. 1: 0.8 percent;

A Long Island father and daughter were convicted of neglecting a handicapped dog leading to open and infected wounds, emaciation, and other severe injuries, authorities announced.
Glen Head residents Christine Bagwell, 31, and her father Gregory Bagwell, 71, were convicted of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, and failure to provide proper sustenance.
Christine Bagwell was convicted by a jury, while her father was convicted in a bench trial.

Gerard Moran, Former Lirr VP Of Labor Relations, Dies
A retired former labor union leader who represented railroad employees has died. He was 74.
Gerard M. "Jerry" Moran of Glen Head died Thursday, May 23. He was retired as Vice President of Labor Relations for the Long Island Railroad.
Moran was born in 1945. He is survived by his wife Susan and children, Chris (Nicole), Brian (Jana) and Carrie McGovern (Jude); grandchildren, Matthew, Sean, Braeden, Kennedy, Avery, and Kieran.
He is also survived by brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
Moran's funeral was held Tuesday, May 30 in Sea Cliff.
