Teenage Surfer Bitten By Shark In Brand-New Long Island Incident
A teenage surfer was bit by a shark on Long Island, the latest of six bites in the past three weeks. The 16-year-old was paddling about 20 yards offshore at Kismet Beach on Fire Island when he was bitten on his right foot around 5:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, said the Suffolk County Police. The surfer suffered a 4-inch laceration but was able to walk out of the water and was taken by Saltaire Fire Rescue to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Deer Culled At William Floyd Estate Results In Donation Of 500 Pounds Of Venison To Food Bank
The National Park Service finished the initial phase of deer removal operations at the William Floyd Estate on Fire Island. A total of 25 deer were culled with more than 500 pounds of venison donated to Island Harvest, a food bank in Hauppauge.
