This week, legislation was signed into law that will give local New York hair salons and barber shops the option of being open to customers on Sunday as many businesses continue recovering financially from the pandemic. New York continues its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic as consumers have flocked to stores and restaurants en masse since the vaccination became widely available. According to a new Siena College poll, the “New York State Consumer Sentiment and Buying Plans” have been continuing its pandemic recovery following a downturn in 2020. A major solar facility is coming to Long Island as New York continues its push for more green, renewable energy sources. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that the New York State Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) has issued final siting permits for its first two major solar facilities, Riverhead Solar 2 in Suffolk County and Morris Ridge Solar Energy Center in Livingston County. A new COVID-19 outbreak has been linked to an early voting site on Long Island, officials said. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced this week that at least 10 COVID-19 cases have been identified in relation to an early polling site at Stony Brook University's location in Southampton.
