Suffolk County Police officers responded to the blaze in East Setauket on Friday, Aug.18 at around 11:10 p.m. on the north shoulder, west of 445 Route 25A. The Setauket Fire Department extinguished the fire and a body was discovered inside the 2004 Dodge pickup. A 54-year-old East Setauket man was operating his boat, a 2003 Sea Ray Sundancer, in Smithtown Bay, traveling from Sunken Meadow State Park to Stony Brook Marina, when it stalled, Suffolk County Police said.  An explosion occurred on the boat a short time after it was restarted.
