James Burns, age 27, of Cutchogue, was arrested Wednesday, March 6, following an investigation by the Suffolk County DA’s Public Corruption Squad. Prosecutors said Burns illegally accessed an internal computer system at the Cutchogue Fire Department in September 2023 and made 96 changes to the records of 55 prior emergency calls. Long Island 21-Year-Old Killed After Car Crashes Into Tree A 21-year-old Long Island man was killed after crashing his vehicle into a tree overnight. Melvin Dominguez, of Cutchogue, died about 10:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 6, on Route 48, said the Southold Police Department. According to police, Dominguez was driving eastbound on Route 48 when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree on the south side of the roadway.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  Additional information was not immediately available.
