Long Island 21-Year-Old Killed After Car Crashes Into Tree A 21-year-old Long Island man was killed after crashing his vehicle into a tree overnight. Melvin Dominguez, of Cutchogue, died about 10:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 6, on Route 48, said the Southold Police Department. According to police, Dominguez was driving eastbound on Route 48 when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree on the south side of the roadway.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  Additional information was not immediately available.
