Special Delivery: Police Officers Help Long Island Woman Give Birth Police officers helped deliver a Commack mother's baby overnight. Three officers responded to a 911 call from  Thomas Geness of his wife giving birth at their home on Lafayette Avenue at 3:15 a.m. Friday, July 19, according to Suffolk County Police. The officers arrived and assisted Christine Geness, the full term expectant mother, who gave birth to a baby girl at approximately 3:23 a.m., according to police. Five-Car Long Island Crash Sends Two People To Hospital A five-vehicle crash sent two people to the hospital on Long Island. The crash took place around 9:30 p.m., Thursday, July 18, at the intersection of Larkfield Road and the Jericho Turnpike in Commack, said the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Multiple patients were assessed for possible injury, but it determined that only two people had injuries, the department said.  Both patients were transported to Huntington Hospital with minor injuries. The Commack Fire Department and Suffolk County Police Department are handling the investigation.
