Recall Issued For Coffee Maker Due To Burn, Injury Hazards Thousands of espresso makers sold at IKEA stores are being recalled after consumers reported suffering burns, scald injuries, and hearing damage.  The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday, Aug. 25, the recall of IKEA METALLISK Espresso Makers with a stainless-steel safety valve for cooktop 0.4 1. Man Seriously Injured By Firework During Block Party On Long Island A 67-year-old man was seriously injured by a firework while attending a block party on Long Island. The incident happened in Commack on Diellen Court at about 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, the Suffolk County Police Department said. Police said a mortar-style firework exploded and struck the man in the face. He was hospitalized for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening burns and lacerations to his face and head, police said. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the police at 631-854-8252.

First responders from the North Amityville Fire Co. Inc. were dispatched to a Ronek Drive home at approximately 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, when a fire was reported at an area home. Crews were able to knock down the flames, but a 4-year-old boy was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, and a 51-year-old woman was taken to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
