One Injured, Multiple Cars Destroyed By Fire Outside Long Island Car Rental One injury was reported and multiple cars were destroyed when a fire broke out at a parking lot shared by Hertz-Rent-A-Car and a local taxi company on Long Island, authorities announced. First responders were dispatched to Hertz on Medford Avenue in East Patchogue shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, where there was a report of multiple cars that caught fire in the parking lot. 10 Dogs, 20 Cats Removed From Condemned Long Island Home, SPCA Says A Centereach couple has been charged with animal cruelty after 10 dogs and 20 cats were removed from their condemned home. The horrendous conditions were found on Sunday, July 7,  when Suffolk County SPCA detectives responded to a call from the Centereach Fire Department where multiple dogs and cats were found living in deplorable conditions. It appears that the fumes from the house set off their fire alarm, the Suffolk County SPCA said.
