A Long Island man whose “terrifying” abuse led to the death of two puppies and nearly killed a third is heading to jail. Ellie Knoller, age 32, of Mineola, was sentenced to one year behind bars Wednesday, Oct. 26, in Nassau County Court. It followed his guilty plea to three felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals in March 2022. A Long Island man has been accused of killing a dog during a video call and threatening a family member. A 23-year-old man found a Chihuahua that had escaped from its Central Islip home on Sunday, May 9, Suffolk County Police said. A Long Island man allegedly punched and kicked his puppy in front of his children, hospitalizing it with broken bones, and then attempted to cover it up by claiming it had been struck by a car, police said. Bella, a female brown Goldendoodle puppy who was barely alive after allegedly being beaten by a man who has been charged in the deaths of two other puppies, is continuing to improve, according to the Nassau County SPCA.
