Long Island Expressway Stretch Reopens After Serious Crash
This story has been updated. A stretch of the Long Island Expressway has reopened after a serious crash caused its closure at the height of the morning commute. All westbound lanes were shut down at Exit 51 in Dix Hills for an accident investigation, Suffolk County Police said at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10. The lanes reopened around 9:45 a.m.

Dirt Bike Driver Injured During Crash In Nassau County, Police Say
Police are investigating a serious auto accident on Long Island involving a man riding a dirt bike. The accident took place around 8:53 sp.m., Thursday, May 27, on the Babylon Turnpike in Roosevelt. According to detectives, while heading northbound on Babylon Turnpike operating the dirt bike, a 29-year-old man was involved in a collision with another motorist who was heading southbound, said the Nassau County Police. A stretch of the Long Island Expressway has now fully reopened after a deadly pre-dawn crash on Monday, April 5.
