Speeding Motorcyclist Killed After Crashing Into SUV, BMW On Southern State Parkway, Police Say

A 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed after hitting two vehicles on a stretch of the Southern State Parkway, New York State Police said.

The crash occurred at around 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 in Nassau County.

The motorcyclist, Joseph Montano, of New York City, was traveling eastbound on the parkway on a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle near Exit 16 in Hempstead at a high rate of speed, police said.

The motorcycle struck the rear of a 2003 Lincoln Navigator, traveling eastbound on the parkway, and then hit a 2014 BMW which was entering the parkway from Franklin Avenue eastbound, state police said.

Montano was ejected and transported to Mercy Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. No other injuries sustained in the other two vehicles.
