Hempstead resident Keith Harrison attended a Black Lives Matter protest on Broadway in Huntington Station on Monday, July 6, when a vehicle struck a pedestrian at approximately 6:45 p.m., Suffolk County Police said.
Following the pedestrian strike, Harrison filed a police report that alleged he was also struck and transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment on undisclosed injuries.
Police said that an investigation by Suffolk County Police found that Harrison was never struck, nor was he treated at Huntington Hospital.
Harrison, 56, was arrested at his Milford Street home at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8 following the investigation.
Harrison was charged with falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor. He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, July 28.
