The incident took place around 1:18 p.m., Monday, April 5 in Islip on Kempster Avenue off South Saxon Avenue.

When Islip Fire Department units arrived on the scene, they found a single-vehicle accident in which a car went through the garage door and then continued through a rear wall and then out a sunroom into the backyard of the home, the Islip Fire Department said.

The occupants of the vehicle were able to self extricate themselves from the vehicle and were uninjured in the collision, the fire department said.

The rear wall of the garage was deemed unstable from the accident and crews used the department's Collapse Rescue Trailer to shore up the wall for structural integrity.

The Town of Islip Fire Marshals and building inspectors were on scene to evaluate the home.

Suffolk County Police were also on the scene.
