ID Released For Service Station Employee Struck, Killed By Jeep In Wantagh

The identity of an auto service center employee who was killed after he was struck by a jeep while on the job has been released.

The incident happened on Long Island around 10:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 in Wantagh.

The 32-year-old male employee at the Merrick Jeep Chrysler Dodge Service Center on Sunrise Highway (Route 27) was hit by a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by another employee as he backed up, according to Nassau County Police. 

The victim, now identified as 32-year-old Daniel Cicio, of Levittown, was transported to a nearby hospital by a Nassau County Police Ambulance where he was soon after pronounced dead by hospital physicians. 

The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old man, remained at the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
