Y. -- An affordable housing development may breathe new life into a vacant area along Main Street in Poughkeepsie that was the site of a fatal fire in 1973, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal.Developer Kenneth Kearney is proposing a so-called Poughkeepsie Sculpture Park project for the corner of Main and South Bridge streets, reported The Poughkeepsie Journal. FedEx Center Replaces Shuttered Businesses In Yonkers YONKERS, N. Y. -- A new FedEx distribution center opens Friday along Tuckahoe Road, replacing the former Tuckahoe Motor Inn, a restaurant and car dealership in Yonkers, according to lohud.com.The 121,883-square-foot center is expected to create 50 new jobs, plus relocate about 30 workers from a facility in the Bronx. Yorktown School Pool Boasts New $20K Electronic Scoreboard YORKTOWN, N. Y. -- Yorktown high school and middle school student swimmers now have a new $20,000 scoreboard to go with the upgraded pool at Mildred E. Strang Middle School.The new scoreboard, unveiled recently, was made possible through grant money. In addition to being used by Yorktown High School and middle school swimmers, the pool hosts a variety of competitions and meets, drawing competitors from throughout the Hudson Valley, officials said. Professional Rodeo Gallops Into Tappan This Weekend TAPPAN, N.Y. -- Nanuet-based Venture Foundation is partnering with a professional rodeo to bring a touch of the Wild West to the Rockland County area this weekend.This is the first time that Venture Foundation joins with Mason and Shriners to present the event. New Parking, Walking Bridge Open At South Salem's Love Preserve SOUTH SALEM, N. Y. -- A new bridge over a bog area is one of the newest features to help visitors enjoy a trip to the 11-acre Love Preserve in South Salem.Other changes include a restored trail system through the natural area, and two new parking spots for hikers, Westchester Land Trust officials said.
