MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Westchester County Police are investigating three thefts and vandalism at Tesla Motors and two other businesses that took place in Mount Kisco overnight Wednesday and early Thursday.
Detectives became aware of the incidents when Tesla dealership employees at Tesla Motors at 115 Kisco Ave. reported at 7:11 a.m. the theft of 16 wheels/tires from four vehicles, according to Westchester County police spokesman Kieran O'Leary.
The thefts occurred sometime between 10 p.m.on Wednesday and 6 a.m. on Thursday. It appears that the thief or thieves cut a hole in a fence on the property to access the dealership and remove the tires, O'Leary said.
A short time later at 7:58 a.m., an employee at a self-storage facility on Kensico Drive reported that seven tires were slashed on two vehicles parked at the facility overnight, he said.
The final call came in at 8:15 a.m., when employees at Mount Kisco Volvo/Land Rover, at 299 Kisco Ave., reported that all 36 tires on nine vehicles were slashed overnight, O'Leary said.
It appears from a security video that a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt entered the property at 4:36 a.m. and left at 4:45 a.m., he added.
Detectives believe that the two incidents of vandalism were committed by the same person but that the thefts at Telsa were committed by a different party, O'Leary said.
All three incidents remain under investigation.
