Longtime, Popular Westchester HS Coach Dies From Complications Of Covid-19
Family, students, friends, and fellow employees are grieving the loss of a mainstay of the Valhalla School District for more than 40 years from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Nicholas Modugno, 91, died on Wednesday, April 29, from complications of COVID-19.
Modugno was known to all simply as Mr. D. or Coach D., said William McGuinn, the former president and a member of the Valhalla Board of Education.

School Lockouts Lifted After Threat At Private Academy In Westchester, Police Say

Lockouts at three schools in Westchester have been lifted after a threat at a nearby private academy was contained to that campus, police said.
The schools, Columbus Elementary, Westlake Middle School and Westlake High School, in Mount Pleasant, were put on lockdown around 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, following some type of threat and police investigation at the EF Academy, said Mount Pleasant School District Superintendent of Schools Kurtis Kotes.
