Mount Vernon Wins Sick Pay Lawsuit Over Retired Police Officers City officials in Mount Vernon saved taxpayers millions of dollars after a police-sick-time lawsuit was filed by eight retired officers with the department. The New York State Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit filed in 2016 by eight retired police officers and their union, which alleged that the city owed them compensation for unused sick time. In total, the officers were requesting more than $450,000 in the lawsuit.
