Armen Kazanjian, 79, Longtime Hasbrouck Heights Resident
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Armen Kazanjian, a longtime resident of Hasbrouck Heights, died on Friday, Jan. 27. He was 79.
Kazanjian graduated from Memorial High School, in West New York, where he played football under Coach Joe Coviello and was named to the All-County, All-State and All-Metropolitan football teams.
He was also 50-year Master Mason of Blue Stone Mystic Tie Malta Doric Lodge No. 35, a veteran of the Navy Reserves and a retired sheet metal journeyman.

Amid Leukemia Setback, Fort Lee Family Organizes Match Registry Events
FORT LEE, N.J. -- Seventh-grader Briana Lopez, of Fort Lee, is seeking someone, but she doesn't yet know their name or their face. Her leukemia has relapsed, and she and her family have helped organize five donor registry drives on Sunday, Feb. 12 -- in four different states -- to try to find that person.
While Briana does need a bone marrow transplant, these events are not just for her. Among the many donors who get their cheeks swabbed and join the registry, many other people in need of a cure may find one.

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. -- Vida Maria (Jocys) Glaser, of Woodcliff Lake, died on Sunday, Jan 29. She was 77.
Born in Lithuania, Glaser immigrated to the United States in 1949. She lived in New York for 25 years before moving to New Jersey; she's lived in Woodcliff Lake for the past 43 years.

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. -- Donald E. Fritzsch, of Franklin Lakes, died on Wednesday, Jan. 11. He was 87.
Born in Clifton, Fritzsch was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He lived in Fair Lawn before moving to Franklin Lakes 10 years ago. He was a groundskeeper for Ridgewood's Parks and Recreation Department until he retired, in 1995.
He was a member of the American Legion in Fair Lawn and a member of the Faith Community Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff.

Joan Connolly, 82, Waldwick Resident
WALDWICK, N.J. -- Joan Connolly, of Waldwick, died on Tuesday, Jan. 24. She was 82.
Connolly worked for Troll Book Club in Mahwah for 25 years, becoming the first female supervisor in the company.

OAKLAND, N.J. -- John L. Sklarsky, of Oakland, died on Friday, Jan. 20. He was 89.
A Pennsylvania native, Sklarsky enlisted in the Navy when he was 17, during World War II. He earned a bachelor's in business administration when he was 45. He worked for Becton Dickinson & Co. of Franklin Lakes for 35 years in various capacities, and he retired as a packaging engineer.
He was worked for seven years and retired from Meadox Medicals of Oakland as a packaging engineer. He was a member of American Legion Post 369 of Oakland for over 60 years, which he helped build.

WALDWICK, N.J. -- Edna Mary Mooney, of Waldwick, died on Monday, Jan. 30. She was 91.
Born in Englewood, Mooney lived in Teaneck for 28 years before moving to Waldwick in 1953. She graduated from Teaneck High School and had a career working in the business world. She retired as an executive secretary from Inmont Chemical Co., in Hawthorne.
She volunteered as superintendent for the Zion Lutheran Cemetery for several years, and she very involved with the women's group at the church. She was also past president of the Ho-Ho-Kus Senior Club.
