Police were dispatched to a stretch of Saw Mill River Road (Route 9A) just north of Jackson Avenue, in the Hastings section of Greenburgh at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Thursday, May 4.
Police said that the preliminary investigation determined that 39-year-old Bronx resident Mario Aguilar was traveling southbound on the roadway in his Ford Escape, while Delaware resident Anthony Farrell, 40, was traveling northbound in a Dodge Charger, when they collided.
According to police, both parties sustained injuries and were transported to the Westchester County Medical Center by Greenburgh Police and Hastings EMS. There were no other passengers in the vehicles. The crash forced police to close Route 9A for several hours, until it reopened to traffic at 6 p.m.
The condition of the two men was not immediately available. Greenburgh detectives are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Anyone with information can contact Police Sgt. Robert Witing at (914) 989-1700.
