Putnam Remembers War Heroes On Memorial Day MAHOPAC, N.Y. - Putnam County remembered those who gave their lives in military service Monday on Memorial Day, with a parade and a ceremony in Mahopac. The Mahopac VFW Post 5491 and American Legion Post 1080 parade started at Clarke Place and proceeded to Veteran's Memorial Park behind the Mahopac Library. Dutchess Interfaith Council Promotes Solidarity Walk For Muslims POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Dutchess Interfaith Council will host a solidarity walk for Muslims at Walkway Over the Hudson in Poughkeepsie on Sunday.  The walk will take place from 5:30-7 p.m.  Walkers should assemble at Walkway Park's east gate on either Washington Street or Parker Avenue.  First Evangelical Lutheran Church will host a vegetarian potluck iftar and program for Ramadan after the walk from 7:15-8:30 p.m.  The church is at 325 Mill St. in Poughkeepsie.
