TZB Work To Affect Metro-North Hudson Line This Weekend

If you're planning on taking a Metro-North Hudson Line train to start the weekend, make sure you check the schedule below. Construction on the new Tappan Zee Bridge will affect some riders as new girders are installed, announced the MTA.

Riders of the Hudson Line of the Metro-North should expect delays and time changes over the weekend during construction on the line.

The railroad is reducing overnight Hudson Line train service between 9 p.m. and 10 a.m. on three Friday nights/Saturday mornings beginning this weekend as workers install 700-ton girder assemblies over the tracks at Tarrytown.

“Metro-North has coordinated with the New NY Bridge team to minimize the impact on Hudson Line train service while work is underway by the contractor,” said Metro-North President Joseph Giulietti. “This coordination will ensure that no passenger trains are beneath the work site while the girder assemblies are moving overhead. This means fewer trains than normal will operate during three 13-hour construction periods. Metro-North will adjust its schedule slightly on those Friday nights to accommodate this work and will communicate schedule information to our customers. We greatly appreciate that the New NY Bridge team is working with Metro-North and has scheduled their work to minimize service impacts for our customers.”

Train schedule details are summarized below, and Hudson Line customers are advised to view special timetables, at this link: http://web.mta.info/mnr/html/planning/schedules/pdf/TZBLaunchTrainSched.pdf

Northbound

Hudson Line trains making all stops to Croton-Harmon will depart Grand Central at their regular times of 10:20 p.m., 11:20 p.m., 12:20 a.m., 1:00 a.m., 1:50 a.m., 6:20 a.m., 7:20 a.m., 8:20 a.m., and 9:20 a.m. At Croton-Harmon, each of these trains except the 1:00 a.m. departure will meet connecting trains making all local stops to Poughkeepsie.

The five Poughkeepsie-bound trains that depart Grand Central at 11:47 p.m., 12:43 a.m., 6:50 a.m., 7:48 a.m., and 8:48 a.m. will instead originate at Croton-Harmon to meet with the electric trains that originate at Grand Central as noted above. Their arrival times at all stations between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie are unchanged.

The semi-express to Croton-Harmon that normally departs Grand Central at 10:54 p.m. will not operate.

Two trains that would have originated at Morris Heights at 8:09 a.m. and 9:09 a.m. will not operate. Those trains would have served all local stops between Morris Heights and Croton-Harmon; because of previously announced track switch reconstruction near Yankee Stadium, they do not serve Grand Central.

Southbound

Trains will operate hourly, stopping at regularly scheduled times at all stations from Poughkeepsie to Grand Central. Customers between Poughkeepsie and Croton-Harmon who normally ride express to Grand Central will instead change trains at Croton-Harmon. Five diesel trains that normally travel from Poughkeepsie to Grand Central will instead terminate at Croton-Harmon to connect with electric trains to Grand Central. These are the trains that depart Poughkeepsie at 8:54 p.m. on Friday, and 4:30 a.m., 5:54 a.m., 6:50 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. on Saturday. All trains will depart at their usual departure times except for the 4:30 a.m. train, which will depart at 4:00 a.m.

The 5:30 a.m. Saturday-only departure from Croton-Harmon, making all local stops to Marble Hill, then running express to Harlem-125th Street and Grand Central, will not operate.

Two trains that depart Croton-Harmon, at 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., and make all local stops before terminating at Morris Heights, will not operate.
