Darien Police, Chamber Launch Business Alert System DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Police Department has teamed with the Darien Chamber of Commerce to develop a system to alert merchants if criminal activity occurs in the area. Metro-North Walk Bridge Undergoes Improvements; Replacement Still Planned NORWALK, Conn. – The Metro-North Walk Bridge in Norwalk can now open and close automatically without the aid of dozens of workers to operate it, as design work continues on its replacement. The 118-year-old rotating Walk Bridge carries four tracks over the Norwalk River and opens and closes for marine traffic. WestConn Community Plants Permaculture Garden In Danbury DANBURY, Conn. – Students and faculty at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury are using a new permaculture garden behind the school’s science center to allow members of the school and outside community to reconnect with the land. Police: Two Arrested After Shots Fired In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. -- Two men were arrested on gun charges after a report of shots fired in South Norwalk on Sunday. Derik McCoy, 26, of Norwalk and Jermaine Smalls, 26, of Bridgeport were each charged with criminal possession of a firearm, weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit and conspiracy. Norwalk Police Warn Residents Of Lottery Scam NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police are warning residents about a lottery scam letter that has been sent to many local families. A family received a letter in the mail from the "Bono Lotto" indicating that the recipient has won $4.5 million. The letter directs the recipient to call a phone number to claim their prize. Police said that if the call is placed, the caller will eventually be asked for their bank information and to send a check for $850 to a location in Nevada in order to claim their prize.
