Police are asking for tips after a 76-year-old man was beaten to death on a popular biking trail in the region. Emergency crews in Albany County were called shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, April 18, for an injured walker who was unconscious on the Mohawk Hudson Bike Trail in Menands. The weekslong search for a 40-year-old woman who went missing near a remote hiking trail in Massachusetts near the border with New York ended earlier this week after hikers found her body on a trail in New York. Two New York State Police troopers were seriously injured after a weekend crash. It happened around 2 a.m. Saturday, March 23, in Rensselaer County on I-90 in the town of East Greenbush. Cleanup efforts are underway following a freight train derailment that shut down a major highway in the region. The Rensselaer County incident happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, near Route 67 in Valley Falls.
