Fireball Traveling 34,000 MPH Over NYC Caused Loud Boom Heard Across Tristate: NASA
The mysterious boom heard and felt across the tristate area may have been caused by a meteor passing through the area, NASA says. Locals reported hearing thunder-like booms and rattling just after 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 16. The USGS ruled out earthquakes, and residents across the tri-state reported witnessing fireballs to the American Meteor Society. White Shark Pings Off Long Island Coast
A 9-foot white shark pinged off the Long Island coast Tuesday morning, May 2. According to shark research center OCEARCH, the dorsal fin of Simon — who weighs 434 pounds and measures 9 feet, 6 inches in length — surfaced very close to the Bay Shore coast around 10:30 a.m. A "Ping" happens when an animal tag breaks the surface of the water, sending data, OCEARCH says. The juvenile shark was tagged in December 2022, in St. Simon's Island, GA. You can now track white shark Simon on the OCEARCH Global Shark Tracker! He’s currently hanging out near where we first met him a few days ago.htt…

The offensive photo caption identified “a f–king hot nurse” administering a COVID vaccine. It also called the unidentified nurse “a total JAP,” adding racism to the already profane and misogynistic text. In a statement on Monday, March 22, Asbury Park Press Executive Editor Paul D’Ambrosio said the caption was fixed…

Westchester Man Charged With $150,000 Superstorm Sandy Scam
A 56-year-old Westchester man collected $150,000 in taxpayer-funded Superstorm Sandy relief by claiming his damaged Jersey Shore home as his primary residence, state authorities charged. The home that Thomas Aquilino of Yonkers owns on Baltimore Avenue in Point Pleasant that was damaged by the historic storm is actually a summer/weekend property, New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal said. His real home was in Yonkers when Aquilino fraudulently applied for and received the Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation (RREM) funds, Grewal said. Aquilino was charged with t…
