Darien High School Gymnasts Win Fciac Championship DARIEN, Conn. – The Darien High School gymnastic team won the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship competition. It's the first FCIAC title for the Blue Wave in a decade, and the sixth overall in the history of the program. Darien has had previous championships in the 1978-79, 1994-95, 1999-2000, 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons. Newtown Must Pay Cop $380K For Post-Sandy Hook Shooting PTSD FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The state Board of Mediation and Arbitration has ruled that Newtown Police Officer Thomas Bean, who has not worked since the 2012 Sandy Hook School shooting, is qualified for long-term disability totaling $380,000 due to suffering post-traumatic stress syndrome, the Hartford Courant reported. The board ruled that Newtown was liable for 50 percent of Bean's pay until his retirement due to his police contract, the Courant added.
