Darien High School Gymnasts Win Fciac Championship
DARIEN, Conn. – The Darien High School gymnastic team won the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship competition.
It's the first FCIAC title for the Blue Wave in a decade, and the sixth overall in the history of the program. Darien has had previous championships in the 1978-79, 1994-95, 1999-2000, 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.
The Blue Wave's home gym, the Darien YMCA, honored the team with a banner that now hangs in the Y.

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Thomas G. Dean, of Mamaroneck, died on Tuesday, May 19. He was 83.
Dean was born in Greenwich, Conn., to Thomas and Evelyn Dean He graduated from Greenwich High School and attending the University of Connecticut.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Daly. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 501 for more 40 years.

HARRISON, N.Y. – Margaret M. Donahue, of West Harrison, died in her sleep on Thursday, May 21, at The Kensington in White Plains. She was 98.
Donahue was born on Sept. 24, 1916, in White Plains to Mr. and Mrs. Hollis C. Eisner
She founded Donahue's Stationery Store with her husband Patrick in West Harrison in 1950, and helped run the store into her early 90s.

YONKERS, N.Y. – Elizabeth "Betty" Hornyak of Yonkers, died on Wednesday, May 20. She was 69.
Hornyak was born on Sept. 11, 1945 to Albert and Anna Jarosz in Yonkers.
She graduating from the High School of Commerce in Yonkers and worked as an account clerk for Yonkers General Hospital for over 27 years.

KATONAH, N.Y. – Sheila Rhea Gins, of Purdys and formerly of Katonah, died at home on Wednesday, May 13, of brain cancer. She was 63.
Gins was born on Jan. 29, 1952, to Bailey and Margie Cowan, in Greenwich, Conn. She was raised in England and returned to the United States to attend Skidmore College, graduating in 1974.
She worked in real estate, managing New York City condominiums along with spending time at Coldwell Banker in Katonah.

Compitello was born Feb. 20, 1916 in White Plains.
