Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano: Every Day Is Earth Day Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano: Every Day Is Earth Day
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano: Every Day Is Earth Day YONKERS, N.Y. – Every day is Earth Day when you realize that we don’t own the Earth, we just borrow it from future generations. That’s why it’s so important that we treat our environment well. Here in Yonkers we’ve launched Green City, one of the most comprehensive – and successful – energy initiatives of any city in the state. Residents will notice that street lights in Yonkers are a little brighter nowadays. That’s because, street by street and lamp post by lamp post, we replaced more than 11,000 old, inefficient bulbs with new LEDs.  The project is not just green, it’s saving green. Ove…

Yonkers Mayor Spano: Focused On Public Safety Yonkers Mayor Spano: Focused On Public Safety
Yonkers Mayor Spano: Focused On Public Safety YONKERS, N.Y. – Government has certain basic responsibilities. Chief among them is the responsibility to keep our residents safe. Yonkers is one of the safest cities of its size in the entire country, and I’m proud to say that our city – the fourth largest in New York – is becoming even safer. Crime has dropped 30%…
