Suspect Nabbed For Stabbing Of Teen Outside Long Island Restaurant

An altercation at a Long Island fast food restaurant led to the stabbing of a 17-year-old and the arrest of a teen suspect who allegedly knifed his victim, police said.

West Babylon resident Erick Hernandez-Rodriguez, age 19, was involved in an incident with his victim at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Monday, May 3 at Popeyes on Deer Park Avenue in Deer Park, which spilled outside into the parking lot.

Police said that while confronting the teen, Hernandez-Rodriguez stabbed the teen in the parking lot, leaving him with non-life-threatening injuries that were treated at an area hospital.

Hernandez-Rodriguez later turned himself in to investigating Suffolk County Police officers at approximately 9:40 p.m. that night at the First Precinct.

Following his arrest, Hernandez-Rodriguez was charged with second-degree assault and was held overnight. He is scheduled to be arraigned later in the day at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, May 4.
