Pirates Lay Anchor at Sleepy Hollow

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. - The Historic Hudson Valley organization invites families to experience a fun-filled week at the second annual “Pirates of the Hudson: The Siege of Sleepy Hollow" event being held on June 30, July 1 and July 4-8 from 2 to 8 p.m.

Located at Philipsburg Manor, the festival will take place throughout the entire historic site.

Participants will have the chance to interact with 40 pirates; the fun includes a “Pieces of Eight” treasure hunt, live music from the Roving Blades and the Brigands, two mermaids and a mechanical parrot, plus plenty more.

The festival will begin with three events: fortunetelling with Calypso, “Be a Pirate Prisoner with Queen Anne” and “Pirate Tales with the Sea Witch & Peterwick Parrot.”

The event had a tremendous outcome last summer, and has been extended this  year from three days to a week.

“We actually had to turn people away last year,” said Robert Schweitzer, director of public relations for Historic Hudson Valley.

The festival has been enhanced since its debut last summer with a longer treasure- hunt route and even more mermaids and pirates.

Tickets are $16 for adults; $12 for children 17 and under.
