The bus rear-ended the trailer on the eastbound side near milepost 8 in Knowlton around 6:45 a.m., SFC Philip Curry told Daily Voice. No major injuries were reported, Curry said. Morning Rush: Tractor-Trailer Fire Jams NJ Turnpike Rush Into NYC A tractor-trailer burst into flames on the I-95 approach from the New Jersey Turnpike to the George Washington Bridge, clogging the Tuesday morning rush. The driver got the rig onto the shoulder of the local lanes near mile marker 117, roughly two-tenths of a mile before the Ridgefield Park exit, shortly after 6:30 a.m. May 16. Flames spread along the bottom of the trailer as the driver got out safely. Black smoke could be seen for miles. Ridgefield Park firefighters doused the blaze. No injuries were immediately reported. New Jersey State Police are investigating the cause.

A car appeared to have rear-ended a tractor-trailer then burst into flames, spreading to the other car and the trailer around 4:20 a.m. on Frelinghuysen Avenue near Evergreen Avenue, Interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave said. Four trapped occupants were pronounced dead while a fifth was hospitalized in critical condition. The incident remains under investigation. No further information was available.
