Traumatized By Break-In, NJ College Student Develops Emergency App
An MBA fellow at Rowan University has designed an app to enhance the security of students at the Glassboro campus. Siena Rampulla was a victim of an off-campus break-in in March 2022, as reported by Daily Voice. Jorge L. Navaheredia, 29, of Sicklerville, had broken into several women's homes including Rampulla's, according to Glassboro police. He was caught hiding under a kitchen sink with panties, police said. North Jersey Boy Draws On Passion For Technology With Christmas Light Display
The creative mind behind one of the brightest homes in Bergen County is only 10 years old. Ryan Pleeter, of Thurnau Drive in River Vale, was inspired to make a Christmas light display of his own by his uncle, Chris. "He asked for a few strings of pixel lights for Christmas and started researching on YouTube how to set up his own display at our house -- and the rest was history," his mom Briana Pleeter said. "Ryan is really into technology so this was a way to expand upon that passion." Ryan -- who has a YouTube channel dedicated to all-things technology -- started making the arches that l…

NJ Labor Department Rolls Out Chat Bot -- But Won't Connect To Live Agent
New Jersey's labor department has rolled out a chat bot intended to help the thousands of residents who filed for unemployment. Although the bot will guide users in the right direction and answer frequently asked questions, it won't connect to a live agent -- a problem reported by many frustrated residents. More than 1 million New Jersey residents filed for unemployment since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. As of May 2, $1.9 billion had been paid out to more than 700,000 workers, the department said. Another 300,000 were waiting for their benefits to be approved Thursday. Gett…

Company Wants To Try Out Flying Car In Jersey City: Report
Ferries, tunnels, a bridge, helicopters, kayaks, jet skis, swimming, walking (when it's been cold enough) -- all have been used to cross the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey. And now a California startup wants to add a retro-futurist option to the commuter menu: flying cars. Jersey Digs reports that Kitty Hawk Corp. has sought permission to erect a test hangar and a dock somewhere along Hudson Street in Jersey City for its Flyer, a small fan-driven craft that zips along at a height of about 10 feet. The company submitted an application with the state Departmen…
