Rookie Port Authority K9s Honor Five Police Officers Who Died On 9/11 The names of five Port Authority police officers who died on 9/11 live on in a quintet of K9s who were welcomed to the department, along with their partners, in a special graduation ceremony Friday at Newark Airport. The five teams completed a 14-week training course for certification in explosives and drug detection, Port Authority Spokeswoman Lenis Valens said following the Dec. 16 ceremony.
