Paramus Chick-fil-A Weeks Away From Opening, Mayor Says The opening of the brand-new Paramus Chick-fil-A is imminent. According to Paramus Mayor Chris DiPiazza, the Chick-fil-A being built alongside the northbound side of Route 17 will open in the first week of May. The fast-casual chicken joint replaces The Fireplace, which closed in July 2021 after 65 years in business. "We’re excited to welcome Chick-fil-A to Route 17," DiPiazza said. A large transformer in a rooftop parapet caught fire shortly after 12:30 p.m., Oct. 1. There was initial concern when the fire went to three alarms. The fashion retailer announced last year a plan to close 230 “underperforming” stores throughout the country. Included are stores located at Paramus Park Mall and Ridgewood Avenue. The Gap says it will shift its focus to e-commerce operations. The retailer posted a statement on its website: We are confident these closures will strengthen the health of the specialty fleet moving forward and will serve as a more appropriate foundation for brand revitalization.
