A manager at a luxurious midtown-Manhattan highrise was stabbed in the leg while fighting off two robbers who'd jumped him outside his Palisades Park home Friday night. The victim was losing a lot of blood from a deep gash when borough police arrived shortly after 9 p.m. Nov. 3. Many figured New Jersey's bail reform law would free a purported MS-13 gang member who escaped from a local police station before being captured in Rhode Island. Before that could happen, however, federal immigration authorities issued a detainer on Adilson Estrada-Garcia, a 24-year-old Guatemalan national living in Cliffside Park. A drunk driver from Pennsylvania escaped serious injury when his sedan slammed into a utility pole off Route 46 in Bergen County, authorities said. Austin Palmer, 21, was behind the wheel of a 2010 Nissan Altima that toppled the pole on Grand Avenue near West Columbia Avenue shortly before 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Palisades Park Police Sgt. A Palisades Park laborer was charged with statutory rape and a local barber with child endangerment for sexually abusing an underage girl, authorities said Thursday.
