The vehicle veered across both lanes of Glen Road in Sparta, where it rolled over and came to a stop near Upper Glen Lake Road around 9:40 p.m., Lt. Thomas Snyder told Daily Voice. Crews arrived and found that the 17-year-old had extricated himself, though the 16-year-old passenger, also from Sparta, took about an hour to free from the vehicle before being evaluated by paramedics at the scene. Luciano Viera Dos Santos, 28, was driving a black pickup truck towing an excavator on a flatbed on Glen Road toward Main Street in Sparta when its brakes failed around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, Sparta Police said.
