A 78-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman from Old Bridge were heading south on Route 1 when they fatally struck the man as he crossed the highway at 6:49 p.m., police said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police declined to identify who was driving the vehicle, citing the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 908-474-8505.
