Broken Leg Suffered By Route 46 Pedestrian Struck By Pickup A pedestrian suffered a broken leg when he was struck by a pickup truck before dawn Monday on Route 46 in Elmwood Park, authorities said. The 51-year-old victim from Paterson was crossing the highway at Mola Boulevard when he was hit by a 2008 Dodge Ram shortly after 5:30 a.m., Police Chief Michael Foligno said. He was taken to St. Joseph's with the broken femur and a cut lip, the chief said. Any summonses or charges against the 60-year-old driver from Riverdale were pending the results of an investigation, he said.

The driver got out under his own steam after the truck hit a pole and a tree, landing on its side on the northbound highway outside the Trader Joe's near the Midland Avenue exit shortly before 6:30 a.m. The right and center lanes were temporarily closed as a heavy duty wrecker righted and removed the truck. Three Injured In Separate Route 17 Crashes Three people were injured in separate Thursday morning crashes on either side of Route 17 in Ho-Ho-Kus. The first occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. and the next about a half-hour later, both near Hollywood Avenue. Two people were taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. Their conditions couldn't immediately be determined. Traffic was jammed on either side of the highway.
