Downed Wires From Mini-Storm Close Stretch Of Route 9W For Hours
Sparking wires downed by the overnight storm Monday closed Sylvan Avenue in Englewood Cliffs in both directions and melted some of the roadway, authorities said. Route 9W remained closed past noon between Sage Road and Demarest Avenue while repairs were made, Detective Lt. Ronald F. Waldt said. IDA: 7 Tornados Confirmed In NJ, PA
The National Weather Service has confirmed seven tornados touched down in New Jersey and Pennsylvania Wednesday night in the remnants of Hurricane Ida. The NWS is still working on completing its surveys of the heavily-damaged areas. As of Thursday, 23 people had died due to the storm in New Jersey, Gov. Phil Murphy said. 8th Tornado Across NJ, PA Confirmed In Lehigh County
The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Lehigh County during Thursday's storm -- making that the eighth across New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. The EF0 twister touched down in Slatington and had winds up to 85 mph (click here for photos). It touched down on the grounds of Northern Lehigh High School, snapping and uprooting several trees. Storm Topples Tree Into Glen Rock Home
Heavy winds blew a tree onto a Glen Rock house early Christmas morning. Firefighters were called to 172 Glen Ave., at approximately 4:!5 a.m. All occupants were deemed safe but the house reportedly suffered serious damage. Glen Rock police and fire departments responded, along with the building inspector. The storm continued to wreak havoc across the state, with major flooding and gusty winds worsening overnight.

Rockland Man, 71, Falls Nearly 20 Feet From Ladder Helping Mahwah Friend After Storm
A 71-year-old Rockland man trying to help a Mahwah homeowner remove a tree branch from his roof following Tuesday’s storm lost his balance and fell nearly 20 feet off a ladder, authorities said. The victim, from Spring Valley, was conscious and alert but had a large cut on his forehead when officers arrived at the Wyckoff Avenue home shortly after 8 p.m., Mahwah Police Chief Stephen Jaffe said. Isaias Leaves 1.3 Million Without Power In NJ, Restoration Could Take Days
Tropical Storm Isaias wreaked havoc across North Jersey Tuesday, leaving more than 1.3 million homes and businesses without power. The worst part? Restoration could take days, Gov. Phil Murphy said in a tweet. "Some of these outages may last for a few days due to the severity of the storm," Murphy wrote. 21 Vehicles Destroyed In Ridgefield Fire
Live wires temporarily kept firefighters from dousing flames that destroyed 21 vehicles on a lot off Broad Avenue in Ridgefield. A wire downed in Thursday night's storm ignited two vehicles in the depot, filled with hundreds of new vehicles, next to Metro Fuel on Hudson Avenue near H Mart, authorities said. Firefighters found two vehicles fully involved with live wires arcing over them, blocking initial suppression efforts. More Than 25,000 North Jersey Residents Without Power After Storm
Thousands of Sussex County residents woke up without power Tuesday following the start-of-the-month snow storm. Widespread outages from the storm left approximately 24,000 Sussex County residents and 4,800 Warren County residents in the dark Tuesday morning, JCP&L's website said. JCP&L estimates that power to the nearly 25,000 customers will be restored by 11:30 p.m. More than 150 roads were impassable due to ice and tree damage, hampering restoration efforts, the company said. Storm Downs Trees In Hawthorne, Glen Rock
A fast-moving rain storm wreaked havoc on parts of North Jersey Sunday evening (see photos above). Two fallen trees blocked roadways in Hawthorne. One landed across Hawthorne Avenue near Mahwiney Avenue, taking wires down on its way. The Hawthorne DPW and cable company responded. The other blocked traffic on Royal Avenue. Gov. Murphy Declares State Of Emergency In North Jersey Following Torrential Rains
Governor Phil Murphy on Tuesday signed Executive Order 33 declaring a state of emergency in Bergen, Essex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Passaic counties as a result of this past weekend’s torrential rains. Thousands of Bergen and Passaic residents are still without power following Tuesday's storm that killed one person, downed wires and ignited fires.
