The robber walked into the bank a little after 7:30 and pointed two bank employees to the vault area with what investigators believe was a Glock pistol, similar to the ones law enforcement officers use. He fled after taking an undisclosed amount of cash and fled, the FBI said.

“A short time later, law enforcement responded to a report of someone in a small black sedan dumping garbage in front of a house,” the bureau reported. “They located a bag with red dye and money in the street. The Passaic County Sheriff’s Office recovered the bag.”

Federal authorities described the holdup man as white, possibly Arabic, in his 30s, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing a clear mask below his nose and has a thin, black receding hairline. He had a tan sport jacket, blue jeans and a baseball cap.

“The robber should be considered armed and dangerous: Citizens should not attempt to approach or apprehend this man,” the FBI warned.

The bureau asked that anyone with information about the holdup call the FBI Newark Office at (973) 792-3000 or Clifton Detective Michael T. Davey at (973) 470-5938.
