A dump truck overturned on Route 18 South in Monmouth County, shutting down the road during morning rush hour, authorities said. The NJDOT said it happened in Marlboro south of exit 30 and Route 9 at around 8:11 a.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 12. The dump truck spilled what appeared to be small rocks in a picture posted on Facebook by the Marlboro Township Police Department. $200 Million Healthcare Center Breaks Ground At NJ Transit Station
A new $200 million health and wellness center is hours away from breaking ground at none other than a NJ Transit station. The Hackensack Meridian Health facility will break ground Friday, March 8 at the New Jersey Transit Metropark Station in Iselin. The first of its kind, the center is expected to be completed by 2025. A woman was struck and killed by a commuter train Thursday morning in Wayne, authorities confirmed. The unidentified woman was struck shortly after 7:30 a.m. just west of Main Street and Dewey Avenue, NJ Transit Chief Communications Officer Nancy Snyder said. A $5 million federal grant to build a new ferry terminal in Middlesex County has been approved, officials said. Ferries would run between Raritan Bay and downtown Manhattan and be within walking distance of NJ Transit rail service. Going back to school in September will look much different for New Jersey students, who have been remotely learning since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic mid-March. The New Jersey Department of Education on Friday released guidance for reopening of schools for the 2020-21 school year. : Tractor Trailer Driver Airlifted After Overturning On Route 287 In Edison
UPDATED: A 59-year-old driver was extricated from his overturned cement truck in Edison and airlifted to a local hospital, authorities said. Police, firefighters and EMS responded to the southbound side of Route 287 along the ramp to the New Jersey Turnpike about 10 a.m. Friday, state troopers said. The driver, who's name was not released, was awake at the time of transport and the ramp remains closed, Sgt. Lawrence Peele, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said on Friday afternoon. UPDATE: Southbound Route 17 remained closed temporarily after a transformer fire downed wires and burned a portion of the roadway Wednesday night in Waldwick. Police initially closed the highway north at Allendale Road and south at Cameron Road around 9:15 p.m. Several area power outages were reported.
