Kale, Spinach, Collard Green Products Sold In NJ Subject To Listeria Recall
A Maryland-based company announced a recall of kale and other similar products that were shipped up and down parts of the East Coast and could be contaminated with Listeria.
Lancaster Foods is voluntarily recalling three brands of Robinson Fresh, Lancaster, and Giant brand kale, spinach, and collard green products after a random sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes by the New York Agriculture and Markets Food Safety Division.
Items subject to the recall were distributed to retailers and distributors in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. …

North Jersey father and businessman Talath Witharane died after a three-week battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, according to his obituary. He was 50 years old.
Witharane, of Franklin Lakes, met his wife, Erin, 21 years ago on a blind date, and together they raised their two children Evyn, 15, and Harry, 12.
According to his obituary, Witharane "led the quintessential American rags to riches story." He was born in Sri Lanka and later worked his way up from a Taco Bell employee to president of RK Environmental, a food safety company with more than 200 employees.

An outbreak of hepatitis A linked to strawberries is under investigation in the United States and Canada, the Food and Drug Administration said.
The multi-state, multi-territory outbreak is potentially connected to fresh organic strawberries branded as FreshKampo and HEB, purchased between Saturday, March 5, 2022, and Monday, April 25, 2022.

Metal Found In These Drinks Forces FDA Recall In CT, NY, NJ, PA
Metal fragments and washers found in Minute Maid and Coca-Cola products have forced the US Food and Drug Administration to issue a voluntary recall in eight states.
The products were distributed in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Maine and New Jersey, according to the FDA.
