Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Train In Bergen County (Developing) NJ Transit service to Suffern, NY was suspended due to a fatal pedestrian strike Monday morning, Dec. 16 in Bergen County, rail officials said. Train No. 56 on the Port Jervis Line struck and killed the pedestrian east of the Ramsey station around 9:15 a.m., NJ Transit spokesman Kyalo Mulumba said.  The train, which departed Port Jervis at 7:39 a.m., was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 9:52 a.m.  There were no injuries reported to the approximately 10 customers and crew on board. Details Released In Amtrak Strike Of Man, 39, That Caused Major Delays A 39-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in New Jersey, delaying rail service between Philadelphia and New York City Tuesday evening, Feb. 28, authorities said. The name of the man killed had not been released pending notification of family, said Lt. John Bresnen of the Plainsboro Police Department. Amtrak train 178 was traveling from Washington D.C. to Boston at 6:54 p.m. when the victim was struck east of Princeton Junction, an Amtrak spokesman said.
